The name of this apartment comes from the Canto de' Banderai on the corner of Via dei Calzaiuoli and Via dei Tavolini, an area full of flag and banner stores. In the 1300s they were the absolute protagonists of the many processions organized in honor of the city's illustrious guests, such as the sumptuous processions that celebrated the feasts of saints, among which the main one was that of St. John.
