The name of this apartment recalls Canto della Briga, which is located on the corner of Via de' Pepi and Via dell'Agnolo, a popular area, and owes its name to quarrels between locals that more often than not degenerated into an actual brawl. Others believe, however, that the origin of the name goes back to the place where brigades of commoners who participated in festivals or processions gathered. It is also not ruled out that, near the "Canto," the "Powers of the Quarter of St. Cross" used to gather.
